REACH - new European chemical legislation 

The new European chemical legislation on the Registration, Evaluation and Authorisation of Chemicals, REACH (Regulation EC 1907/2006) was enforced on 1 June 2007. REACH affects all chemical substances manufactured in the EU or imported to the EU. REACH is designed to harmonize current EU chemicals legislation, to ensure the safe handling of chemicals to protect health and the environment and to reduce the number of animal experiments.

The first stage of REACH, the preregistration stage, will end at the first of December 2008. The total REACH procedure for existing chemicals will be ended in 2018.

REACH might lead to new safety thresholds for chemical substances. Based on these thresholds safety precautions during the use of these substances will be defined. These safety precautions will be mentioned in the safety datasheets.

Resina as a polyurethane system house and polyol producer will strive to be in compliance with REACH.
